18-year-old busted over alleged B&Es and vehicle thefts

A teenager has been charged with multiple aggravated break and enter offences alleged to have occurred in Tamworth.

Early on Wednesday morning two males allegedly forced entry to a home on Diane Street, South Tamworth, and allegedly stole a handbag before running from the home.

Local police were alerted and about 4am, police were patrolling the Robert Street area when they attempted to stop an 18-year-old man whom they arrested after a short struggle and he has been charged with:

  • Aggravated enter dwelling with intent in company – steal less than $60,000 (x2)

  • Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner (x2)

  • Steal motor vehicle

  • Aggravated break and enter dwelling in company – steal more than $60,000

Following subsequent inquiries, police will allege the teen was also involved in the theft of a car from a home on Belmore Street on Wednesday, September 16 and the theft of car and a pursuit through East Tamworth on Sunday, December 13 last year.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before a children’s court on Tuesday 2 February 2021.
