Cars and house damaged in early morning fire

NSW Fire and Rescue crews from Tamworth and West Tamworth station were called to the home in Oxley Vale at about 1:45 this morning after a fire broke out.

When the first crew arrived ten minutes after the call-out, local police were already on the scene and it is understood all of the occupants of the house had evacuated safely.

The fire had broken out in a garage attached to the house before spreading to the house and Firefighters worked to control the blaze which damaged 25 per cent of the home and the rest of the house was affected by smoke and heat from the flames and water from the firefighting effort.

Fire and Rescue NSW Tamworth station commander Glenn Willsallen said the fire caused moderate damage to the home, the garage and two cars.
