Country Music Capital Top 20 Feb 14, 2020

We have a new #1 this week – ‘Last Of The Riverboats’ by Brendan Smoother with The Bobkatz. The song was originally released by Stars, one of Australia’s first country rock bands which featured Andy Durant. This has pushed Amber Lawrence’s ‘Hell To Hallelujah’ to #2 and Shane Nicholson moved up four places with ‘The High Price of Surviving’ to #3. There’s one new entry into the top ten – ‘Cool Karma’ by Voodoo Town, an international band headed up by vocalist and songwriter – and local – Brent Larkham. The song is also getting plenty of attention in Europe. Two new songs hit the top 20 – Hayley Jensen and Beccy Cole move into #17 with ‘Angel’ and Benn Gunn hits #19 with ‘Luckiest Man Alive’. As most listeners are probably aware, our station supports local country music artists and there are four local artists on our chart – Aleyce Simmonds (#5), Brent Larkham (#10), Ashleigh Dallas (#14) and Allison Forbes (#18). Local duo The Crosby Sisters are a hit pick, and I think I will adopt Barraba-based Andrew Farriss (#15) as a local as well!
