Police are reappealing for information as investigations continue into a large-scale bushfire in the in the Nundle area near Tamworth in 2019.


On Sunday October 27, 2019, emergency services were called to the Nundle State Forest following reports of a bushfire.


The fire was controlled by Forest Corporation and NSW Rural Fire Service personnel; however, a large amount of pine timber plantation was destroyed with an estimated damage bill of between $2 and $3 million.

Detectives attached to Oxley Police District – with the assistance of the forensic evidence and technical services command – commenced an investigation into the cause of the fire and following extensive inquiries and information received about the possible ignition point, police have released a CCTV image of a vehicle of interest in the ongoing investigation.

The image depicts a vehicle described as being a maroon toyota hilux in the nundle area (see photo with this story).
