Introducing Police Dog Alpha

A new police dog and handler have joined the ranks of Oxley Police District and began duties at Tamworth Police Station today.

Oxley Police District Commander Superintendent Kylie Endemi says the Dog Unit – made up of PD Alpha and his handler - will boost the capability of police to respond to a range of crimes and ensure public safety in the region.

Superintemdent Enemi said police will certainly be utilising them to work closely with our Proactive Crime Team.

Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson has welcomed today’s return of a Police Dog Unit in Tamworth.

Mr Anderson said The community has fought hard to have this important addition to crime fighting return to the Oxley Local Area Command and it is pleasing to see the day has arrived

He also welcomed the dog’s handler who has spent considerable time training with the dog so that when required, the two can work as a formidable team to combat criminal activity
