Yesterday afternoon the Westpac Rescue Helicopter went to the assistance of a trail bike rider who fell from his bike in the remote area of Stannifer, south east of Inverell.

Local Ambulance NSW paramedics attended the remote location by 4WD vehicle and commenced treating the male who was suffering injuries to his lower limbs and pelvis and he was able to be removed from the remote trail and transported to the Tingha Sports Ground where the chopper’s critical care medical Team rendezvoused with the Ambulance and patient.

The male was stabilised prior to being flown direct to the Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital in a serious but stable condition.


Following the resignation of the Nationals member for Upper Hunter Michael Johnsen due to allegations of sexual assault and sexting while in Parliament, voters in Quirindi, Willow Tree and Murrurundi are set to head to the polls in May for a by-election.

My Johnsen said he was the man involved after police started investigations into the alleged raping a sex worker in 2019 in the Blue Mountains.


The president of the Manilla Show Society, LouEllen Overton, has been named as the the region's 2021 Local Woman of the Year for her contributions to the Manilla Show Society and the local community.

Member for Tamworth presented Mrs Overton with a framed certificate signed by Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Minister for Women Bronnie Taylor and himself as a special acknowledgment of her award.

Mr Anderson said Mrs Overton is so deserving of this award and she's been the secretary and treasurer of the Manilla Show Society for five years, bringing in a mountain of state funding for the grounds as well as attracting more sponsors for the annual show.
