NSW Deputy Premier says Tamworth mayor is 'ungrateful' over water issues
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Deputy Premier John Barilaro were in Armidale this morning to officially open the 121 million dollar Armidale Secondary College Campus and Mr Barilaro was questioned about Tamworth’s water security problems.
Asked why he hadn’t returned to Tamworth with Water Minister Melinda Pavey to address water security matters as he has promised on a number of occasions, Mr Barilaro lashed out at Tamworth Regional Council’s mayor Col Murray.
“When you look at the investment in Dungowan Dam, the investment around water infrastructure, the work through rebates, supporting communities to not run out of water, supporting industries in the Tamworth region, I’ve got to say Col Murray is an ungrateful mayor,” Mr Barilaro said.
“The investment we have seen in Tamworth has been significant, the investment we’ve seen in water infrastructure has been significant.”
Cr Murray was approached for a comment but was unavailable at the time.
