Tamworth Jockey Club board stands down

The NSW Minister for Racing and Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson has confirmed that the board of the Tamworth Jockey Club has stood aside and an administrator will be appointed.

Mr Anderson said an inquiry by Racing NSW is underway but wouldn’t elaborate on the reasons for the inquiry except to say there are concerns about transactions involving the jockey club.

There haven’t been any accusations of wrongdoing within the club at this stage.

Mr Anderson said his focus, as well as Racing NSW's, is to get some stability and cohesiveness back into the Tamworth Jockey Club.

The club board has until tomorrow to respond to the Racing NSW proposal to appoint an administrator.
