The Annual Dusty Boots Awards for services to country music were handed 0ut on Saturday night in Narromine after they moved from former home Dubbo this year.
Among the recipients were two of our long-time staff members who have been involved in Australian country music for a combined 100 years or more.
Our Breaky announcer Briand ‘Howdy’ Howard and Newsman Jon Wolfe received awards this year and both say they are humbled by the honour.
Organiser of the awards, Mal Norton, said the awards were started by his dad, Johnny Norton, a singer and founder of Dubbo’s Orana Country Music Club, to honour industry legends and said the grass roots awards honour everyone from artists to roadies to ticket sellers, just as his father wanted.
Mr Norton said "These awards are unique in that they are not for who you are or what you have got from the Country Music industry, but what you have done for, or given to, the country music industry."
